Project Proposal: Financial Inclusion Use Cases [NT]

This is a draft of my initial thoughts…

Problem:

  • The world (user base) and policy makers need to understand the magnitude of possibilities that crypto and blockchain platforms can offer the financial inclusion world. We need to think about how systems will change, who we need to work with and how we should prioritize use cases for different markets. Important for users and partners of companies like Celo to understand the market opportunity and use cases, including how to implement them

Scope / Objectives:

  • Understand scope of business use cases and policy implications for a platform like Celo, and how to prioritize them
  • Partnership considerations (private/public) and competition evaluation within each of the use cases
  • How use cases map to country prioritization
  • Use case examples: tokenization of assets for refugees, gig economy, government programs, payments, insurance, etc.

Deliverables:
Report with…

  • Market research, bucketing and analysis of different use cases
  • One pagers to help policy experts understand and explain use cases
  • Incorporations of interviews with potential users and partners
  • Key takeaways and actionable insights

UPDATED:

#1: MARKET USE CASES FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION
Problem: Important for users and partners of Celo to understand the market opportunity and use cases, including how to implement them
Objectives:

  • Understand scope of business use cases and policy implications for Celo, and how to prioritize them
  • Partnership considerations (private/public) and competition evaluation within each of the use cases
  • How use cases map to country prioritization
  • Use case examples: tokenization of assets for refugees, gig economy, government programs etc.

Deliverables:

  • Report with clear messaging of the product’s potential for users and partners
  • Implementation toolkit for different use cases
  • Market research, bucketing and analysis of different use cases
  • One pagers to help policy experts understand and explain use cases
  • Incorporations of interviews with potential users and partners
  • Key takeaways and actionable insights

#2: GTM SURVEY AND DESIGN EXPERIMENT
Problem: Market research study for top 10 countries

Objectives:

  • Where is Celo most likely to be adopted?
  • Who / which segments in country are the early adopters?
  • How to reach early adopters?
  • How do we design incentives to get them to adopt?

Deliverables:

  • Survey for country prioritization (collect and synthesize data)
  • Design experiment to test referral bonuses based on results of the country survey
    • What are the levels of incentive bonuses that we should offer?
    • How much do we offer when sign up or refer a friend?
    • Which messages / call to actions are most successful (ie AB Testing)?
  • Key takeaways and actionable insights

Can you describe Celo, please!

Celo is a DeFi platform where other finance-related applications can be built upon. I’ve only seen Celo at conferences and haven’t poked much in the white paper, but this was a good summary:

" Celo, more specifically, is a mobile-first solution that’s composed of the following three elements:

  1. Lightweight identity for a better user experience
  2. Stability mechanism for stable-value currencies
  3. Incentives and governance system for platform sustainability

The above components are part of a proof-of-stake smart contract platform that’s based off Ethereum. The Celo protocol is powered by a native digital asset called Celo Gold and all Celo assets (Celo Gold and Celo stablecoins) are ERC-20 compliant to facilitate token distribution via decentralized exchanges."

Super interesting! Have they done this before in certain geographies? If you go with idea #1, I think it’d be interesting to hear their design/thought process around community prioritization.
